Success, Chance & Divine Guidance

I recently finished reading a book i posted on earlier, called OUTLIERS.

Definition of an OUTLIER IS something that is situated away from a classed differently from a main or related body

It is an amazing deep insight to the above average, brilliant, athletic & almost super human type people to show you that those people really aren't that 'unique', but their lives are. It is worth the read and has a major amount of practical applications to life as a parent, youth pastor, sports coach and simple human being--

I loved the sociological view and deep insight but what i really loved was this closing paragraph

OUTLIERS says that success follows a predictable course. It is not the brightest who succeed.....the lesson here is very simple. But is striking how often it is overlooked. We are so caught in the myths of the best and the brightest and the self-made that we think outliers spring naturally from the earth. To build a better world we need to replace the patchwork of lucky breaks and arbitrary advantages that today determine success--the fortunate birth dates and the happy accidents of history--with a society that provides opportunities for all.

The joy of the book for me was being able to look at students i have given encouragement and a chance of using their life for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and seeing them become an outliers, someone who lives their life in such a different way than the rest of the world and they have made such an impact the world they touch is in a better place. My hope is any ministry i am part of continues to see students become outliers.
