I have had an overwhelming response from all the parents that they were so appreciative of all the use i gave to my blog & twitter accounts.
They enjoyed the comments, insights and pictures i posted through both weeks of our camps. So my plan is to open a twitter & blog account for our student ministries that we will use specifically for events so parents call follow us/their kids during our adventures.
So this raises a question, Do you use a blog or twitter (or some other media form) to keep parents updated during the events? If so do you personally update it or allow leaders to update it?

On our most recent youth trip, we published Twitter updates on our website. Updates were Twittered in by myself, as well as a couple of our adults and a few teens. It worked great--everyone had different perspectives on the same events.

I post pictures to my blog. (i.e.:http://tyndalespot.blogspot.com/2008/06/day-6-pictures.html) I do it myself. I haven't done anything with Twitter yet, officially. I have my Twitter feed on my blog, how many people used it the week we were out of town, I don't know. I haven't had any direct comments about it. But I do post pictures to my blog.

I have just started contemplating this. We have a monthly newsletter and I do e-mail, but am thinking that this is not enough. I have a personal Twitter and I blog for my youth staff, but I have really felt the desire to build a bigger bridge for the parents.
I love the idea of a blog-based website rather than our current static one. It's encouraging that I'm not the only one wondering about this.
