Developing Others

So today we had a 2.5 hr pow wow with our interns. It was our normal meeting time schedule for the week. We discussed part of a book we are going through (reUnderstanding Prayer), prepped our jr high night, talked about a spring break leader get away and then pow wow hit.

I know when leaders are being developed when they challenge the status quo.

Today my interns (all of which have graduated from my ministry) challenged what we do with our jr high students. They challenged how we communicate, think about & ultimately spiritually guide them to a stronger relationship with Jesus.

Then one of them asked me how i was doing. Not the "hey how ya doing" generic greeting that americana has created but the sincere we want to know how life is for you.

So i shared. Honestly & openly. It was great chance where life was shared in community. I love these interns. I love who they are, their hearts for ministry and where God is taking each of them. I believe that we are doing a good job helping develop these leaders. I also believe these leaders are doing a good job developing me.

I love working with a team and I love when things are not always perfect so we can work together to enjoy community, pursue Jesus & help students through life.
