Last Friday Brian Berry and I met for coffee. During the talk we shared youth ministry, family life and randomness. Now why would i drive 1.5 hrs to have a cup of coffee with a guy you ask?
1- He is a rad dude who loves Jesus & his kids
2- If he ever becomes a Sr pastor my resume will be in his hand in a heart beat. I would love to
work along side of him. In fact i have a 'janitor list' meaning i have a few people i would be on
staff as teh janitor just to be able to have a chance to work with them and Brian is one of
them
3- He makes me laugh
4- He things about life in a way that encourages me that i am not so weird.
5- He has great quotes
We were talking about transitions in youth minsitry and changes and he said this "somebody once designed the pinto and thought it was good".
We have great ideas in the church, and at certains they are a good idea, but as time evolves so the church needs to as well. How has society become so full of creative, energetic and life changing people and it seems most churches are full of people who are dull, lethargic and fight change in the church but embrace it outside of the church?
This comment has got me thinking a lot and have used it several times as i have shared why we are changing things in our student ministry.
It was a fun day and a joy to be around the dude. Thanks Brian!

You're welcome and the respect is mutual. I think when you told me I made the Janitor list a few years back, it was probably one of the nicest compliments I'd ever received. I think it's cuz I have my own janitor list. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'll be a janitor someday. I'll look forward to the next java bonding.
