Got Me Thinking

My wife and I just got done watching this movie. Quite disturbing as to what religious zealousness and really the cult of mormonism has done to people throughout history. To believe that people would follow a man because he claimed to be was from God and do the things that they did.

But we follow Christ because He says he was sent from God & is God's son...so what really is the difference? The crusades were a religious war for power, territory & religious zealousness.

Many church traditions of all faiths have had some very ugly issues, wars, battles, fights and much more that it is not proud of, so why did this movie bother me so much?

For me it bothered me cause it showed some of the dark secrets Mormonism tries to cover up. That mere men are given the status of "the voice of God". That people can't be worthy of God's love unless they are willing to die for thier own sins. That special secret religious meetings must be held to hold people accountable. I find all of this to be so ugly.

Jesus never hid anything. A living relationship with God is not about who is right and who is wrong. It is not about us making sure we look better & are the "right" ones in the fight. It is about living life with a peace between you & God through Jesus Christ and peace between man through Jesus Christ. For everything to funnel back to God himself, seems to leave everything on the same playing field.

I just hope that through a movie like this, Momonism would be willing to investigate their own faith. Who knows a little question asking can be good for everyone.
