Sunday Night in Hollywood

So we scored free tickets to go see the LIVE FINALE of APPRENTICE at the HOLLYWOOD BOWL from Josh.

We had two friends, Becki & Jon from the N. California area drive down to go with us and the night was full of chaos, laughter & almost a few tears, so here is the recap.

We drove down, found where we were going to park to ride the underground metro to the bowl.

We scarfed down Panda Express (which came back to haunt us later) before we got on the metro. We started off by going one stop to the north instead of the south (even though we asked a metro worker which way to go). So we waited the 10 minutes before the train started going again. During that time my wife asked me what time the gates opened and closed for the show. I went to grab our voucher and found nothing. I swore i put it in my back pocket and panic began to set in with me. The only thought was i threw it in the trash with our leftovers of dinner. So the train started going back to where we started, i jumped off to start digging in the trash can. The 3 of them (wife and two friends) went on without me to our next stop. The problem for me was i could not find it in the trash, all i did find was an old latte and a bunch of chinese food that was not eaten. So i quickly retraced my next few steps and I ended up finding the folded piece of paper on the floor next to the teller machine where we bought our metro tickets.

I got back on the trian to catch up with everyone. Now by this time we were racing the clock because we HAD to be there by 615 or we were not going to get let in.

We went street side and asked a bus driver which way to the bowl and he told us we had to get back on the metro go one stop further on then walk a mile to the bowl.

So we raced back down to the train (two serious flights of stairs), got on and went to the next stop (by this time the panda express was not sitting well with anyone!).

Now the time was 5:50 and we had to get a mile up hollywood hill through traffic, in dress clothes with my wife wearing 3" heels.

We thought about a cab, but he wanted $30 for a mile drive. so we kept walking and about 1/8 of a mile later opted for the cab due to time. We got dropped off into the parking lot at 6:13. We ran to the gate to find out we had to go to will call. I ran over to will call only to find out we were going to have to wait in a 200 person line just to see if we could get tickets...

Then the 2nd miracle of Jesus happened (the first was me finding our voucher i almost lost). A lady there asked me how many were in our party and i said 4 and she said "here, a reserved guest did not show so you can have there tickets."

We were so stoked about it! Definately one of those moments where being late was worth it.

So we had about 30 minutes to kill after the gates closed before the show and really were diappointed. The preshow was lame, the actual show was very clearly scripted and it was boring.

The company was great. We enjoyed laughing with each other and just enjoying catching up on life and making fun of really over dressed people who were trying way to hard to be someone special/get noticed. After the show we walked through a little bit of hollywood. Stopped by the stars on the streets to see if we recognized any of them and then drove home.
All in all the adventure of getting there was more fun than the actual night itself, but it was worth everything.
