A few learnings to share

Today i wanted to share some thoughts about being the "point person" when you have to deal with difficult situations.

Being in ministry for about 9 years now it seems there is never a month where some type of difficult situation comes up that you are directly or indirectly involved with. Each setting has its own unique understandings and dynamics, but here are few things i have found seem to always work for me.

Stay Calm- not always easy but if you are able to think rationally and sometimes that means stepping back to re-evaluate the situation and setting may help you in this

Write out/Talk out your thoughts before difficult conversations/confrontations- not that you script what you are going to say but know the major issues to hit right away and leave the minor ones to work on as you deal/heal/work out the problem

Bring others with you- especially through prayer and also has a wisdom voice. Other trusted friends, mentors & colleagus will be able to help. Just make sure that neutral parties are able to help voice themselves when needed.

Be willing to forgive & ask for forgiveness- if you messed up be willing to admit it. if someone else has hurt you extend forgiveness. This is hard cause we are emotional being with feelings, but forgiveness seems to break through in your own life & others to where healing & "moving on" can really take place
